Townsend Opera Program Concept
Mission and Values
- To provide a series of educational programs in opera and musical theater offering students and young adults opportunities to explore their musical interests and to develop age appropriate skills
- To provide educational opportunities in opera and musical theater not currently offered by the public school system
- Enable students and adults to make informed decisions about their future involvement in the arts
- To develop a pool of regional talent that can support the artistic mission of Townsend Opera
Goals
- Develop a comprehensive program with activities designed to accommodate a variety of skill levels and degrees of time availability
- Serve any student between the ages of 6 and 22
- Prepare students between the ages of 6 and 22 for the next level of their musical education or career
- Enable students and adults to make an informed decision about their future musical education and participation in the arts
- Increase enrollment in the music programs at CSU Stanislaus and Modesto Junior College
- To develop a pool of regional talent that can support the artistic mission of Townsend Opera
Measurable Results
- Students will be able to participate with a time commitment that meets their individual needs
- Any student between the ages of 6 and 22 will be able to participate
- Students advance to the next level of their education at the appropriate time
- High school and college level students will be able to make informed decisions concerning their education and career in the arts
- Enrollment levels in the music programs at CSU Stanislaus and Modesto Junior College will increase
- Students will more actively participate as cast members and in technical staff positions in main stage productions
