Townsend Opera presents three major operatic productions annually. Low-income and under-served school children from Modesto City Schools and school districts around Stanislaus County are given the opportunity to attend the dress rehearsal of each production at a dramatically reduced cost. The school pays a subsidized fee of $3 for each student to attend the performance, and Townsend Opera has a special fund to cover the cost of schools not able to pay the reduced fee. These events often give many low-income and under-served children their only opportunity to experience the Gallo Center for the Arts.
